Software Engineer
Do you want to work with programming for spacecraft missions in a team at the forefront of research?
The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Uppsala is looking for a software engineer to develop ground segment software for space instruments. Your main area of work will be the development and maintenance of software for the ground systems and archiving for different instruments developed at IRF. Our group, consisting of engineers and researchers from several countries, has extensive experience in developing and using scientific instruments to measure plasma density, density fluctuations, electric fields, and plasma temperature on spacecraft (e.g., Cluster, MMS, Swarm, Cassini, Rosetta, Solar Orbiter, JUICE, and Comet Interceptor).

In addition to this, good communication and coordination skills are necessary as the work takes place in a small software team at IRF, in collaboration with scientists, several international software teams, and in close contact with ESA. The work is mostly carried out in English, so it requires very good skills in both written and spoken English. As we are a Swedish workplace, knowledge of Swedish, or a willingness to learn, is considered of merit.
The position is a permanent, full-time appointment based at IRF's office at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala. Start date as soon as possible, but no later than September 2026. We apply individual salary setting.
