Description

The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) and Luleå University of Technology (LTU) plan to perform both lidar observations and balloon-borne particle imager measurements in the framework of a project that aims in providing observational data for the validation of the European Space Agency (ESA) EarthCARE mission. We want to hire an early-stage researcher for various tasks related to the project.

Tasks

  • Operating the IRF lidar
  • Analysis of lidar data with help of existing software
  • Preparation and execution of launches of particle imager B-ICI
  • Analysis of B-ICI data
  • Interpret combined lidar and B-ICI data
  • Preparation of publications related to the project

Working outside office hours is may be required. 

Qualifications

  • MSc in atmospheric physics or a related field
  • Experience with operations of both lidar and particle imager
  • Working knowledge of python
  • Driver’s license

Terms

The position is limited to three months and is based at IRF’s headquarters in Kiruna. Salaries are set individually. The start date is in January 2026.
