Within the Solar System Physics and Space Technology research program we explore the solar system. The group consists of scientists and engineers with different specialist skills who work together to develop and deliver space instruments for national and international scientific satellites. The projects are usually carried out together with ESA, NASA and other major space agencies. Job description

We are seeking an engineer who will primarily work with:

  • Design and development of analogue circuits.
  • Testing of electronics in vacuum environment.
  • Test and verification of prototype circuits.
  • EMC testing and verification.

The process from idea to a finished instrument is mainly carried out at IRF and you will have an important role throughout the full project lifetime. Projects usually involve international collaborations, which can involve both domestic and international travels.

Production of technical documentation is an important part of the work, as well as being able to verbally communicate the results of the work.

Qualifications

Master's degree in engineering with a focus on electronics, or other equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent.

Required qualifications.

  • Knowledge of fundamental circuit design, both analogue and digital
  • Analogue systems design
  • PCB design and layout
  • Test and verification of hardware prototype and PCB designs
  • Use of basic electronic bench equipment, ie; oscilloscope, power supplies, DMM, spectrum analysers

Following considered a merit:

  • SMPS design, specifically fly back and forward architectures
  • SPICE simulation and verification, specifically for SMPS
  • EMC knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturability and technology
  • Parasitic circuit elements and component limitations
  • Knowledge in design of electronics for vacuum and harsh environments (radiation, temperature, vibration).

Due to the extensive international contacts, it is important that you can express yourself very well in spoken and written English.

The work entails demand on independence, accuracy, initiative and the ability to solve problems in many technical areas. Ability to collaborate within the work group as well as with external parties is a requirement. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
